About Mount Kigali University
Mount Kigali University was originally Mount Kenya University Rwanda (MKUR), a campus of Mount Kenya University in Kenya which opened its doors in Rwanda in the year 2010. In April 2023, it was accredited by the government of Rwanda and changed its name after approval by a cabinet resolution chaired by his Excellency, President Paul Kagame.
The name resonates with the country’s pride (Mount Kigali) as the institution retains all the attributes that comes with being autonomous adhering to the Rwanda Qualification framework and the laws governing higher education in the country. There has also not been any change in the university ownership.
